MS Humanities - Ancient History & Language Arts

Ages 11-14/Grades 6-8
In this integrated study of Humanities students develop skills & knowledge in Ancient World History as well as Language Arts. Students explore the history, culture, and literature from Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Norse, Egyptian, India, China, Japan, Mesopotamia, and Ancient Nubia (Africa). Learning activities in class are collaborative and hands-on, with reading and research assignments to be completed at home. Additional help sessions via Zoom can be set up as needed.
This is the first in a new series of middle school Humanities curriculum developed exclusively by SDLAA. All 3 year-long courses will build skills in Language Arts (Reading Literature & Informational texts, Writing, Speaking & Listening, and Language Usage). Each year-long course will focus on a historical period: Ancient World History through the fall of the Roman Empire; Medieval History throughout the world through modern history; U.S. History from Colonial times to modern history
